A production company making films and fun for nerdy people

About

Project Gamebox is a production company that makes nerdy things for nerdy people.

Founded by fellow nerds Jack Collard and Tom Bulpett we focus on telling stories from the communities that love our hobbies as much as we do.

We paint minis, we roll dice, we hold life-long grudges over in game betrayals… and now we tell stories about the community we love being a part of.

We met 10 years ago as professional actors and bonded of our shared obsession of all things nerdy.

The gateway drug being a Batman debate, we slipped into more hardcore addictions like Warhammer, D&D an ungodly number of board games, and dice… oh so many dice…

Combining our careers in the entertainment industry with our love of these hobbies, we tell stories amount the communities we grew up with, and that taught us the power of story.

Team

Jack is an actor and producer. He trained at LAMDA. He has acted in and produced work on multiple continents, and across a wide variety of performance mediums including Film, Theatre, Performance & Motion Capture, Puppetry, Voice Over, Radio, and Virtual Reality.

Jack was first indoctrinated into to world of video games with the advent of windows 95… not much he could do as a 5-year-old, but the colours were pretty, and the modem dial up was a fun alien hiding in our attic to his child brain! Little did his dad appreciate the rabbit hole he was sending him down, and soon it was Space Cadet 3D Pinball and Missile Command, and a few years later Elder Scrolls!

Across his childhood he was more of a collector than a player, with Ultramarines, Star Wars starfighters and figures, and Pokémon cards (that were stolen at a friend’s birthday party and if I ever find that son a b***h…) But as a teen, it was fantasy novels and Video Games (with his beloved PS2) that taught him his love of fantasy stories, with an utter addiction to Final Fantasy X (bawling his eyes out at the end) lighting a storytelling fire that brought him to the profession, and a promise that he could never retire until he helped contribute to a project that moved another kid how FFX moved him.

Now as an actor he contributes to video games as a MOCAP performer on a number of projects, as well as playing played Black Ops agents for Sci-fi shows, as well as a host of other TV show shows, plays and other projects that have taken him around the world as a performer.

Now as a producer, he’s determined to give back to the community that has always been there for him across the difficult moments of his life and provided the escapism into fantasy and imagination this outgoing introvert needs to retreat to.

Tom is an awarding winning actor, writer and director who has been playing tabletop games for as long as he can remember. As a child Tom would spend most of his weekends hanging out at his local Games Workshop in Portsmouth, playing and painting Warhammer with his friends and spending most of his pocket money on his Blood Angels Space Marine army. A few years later he turned his attention to more historical wargaming, utilising a variety of gaming systems to retell famous battles. Though his favourite army to play as was always Boudica’s Celts, despite losing with them in most matches.

Alongside this Tom has always been a massive video game fan, thanks to his Grandad allowing him to play Wolfenstein 3D when he was WAY too young for it. After that, shooters and strategy games were always at the top of his Christmas list and to this day he still challenges old friends to 1v1s on Halo 3 and Age of Mythology.

Throughout his life Tom has often returned to these hobbies in times of struggle. Most recently during the Covid-19 pandemic, where they helped him regain some control over his life during these difficult times. But this is not the first time these hobbies have helped him in such a way. While growing up the communities around these hobbies supported Tom significantly by helping him to embrace his diagnosed autism, which dominated much of his early life. For this Tom has always been grateful and keen to give back to his beloved community in any way he can.
